3D-Hall

3D Hall technology based on a proprietary ASIC is used in position and current sensors for e-mobility.

In sensors that utilize the Hall effect, the signal that is actually measured results from the deflection of electrons in a Hall plate under the influence of magnetic fields. Based on this fundamental effect, the 3D Hall ASIC developed by AST operates in 3 spatial directions and can therefore also detect magnetic field vectors in three-dimensional space. The Hall sensor’s high level of sensitivity in combination with the built-in analysis electronics enables the detection of magnetic fields down to the submicrotesla range. 3D Hall technology is used at AST for both non-contact current measurement and position sensing. In this context, a position measurement can be performed in three dimensions.
